Where to explore
The Beautiful Canal town Yanagawa located about 60km south of Fukuoka-city and is
a former Castle town facing the Ariake Bay and spreading in the Chikugo plain. Canal
boat cruise is most recommended experience.
Yanagawa Canal boat cruise is to board a small boat called the Donkobune and slowly
go down the river skillfully maneuvered by a boatman with bamboo pole. A 30minutes
cruise starting Okinohata and go around Ohana & Shotoen Garden is most recommended.
Listed on National Scenic Landmark, was built in 1697 as the villa of the Fourth Lord Tachibana
Akitora. At that time the region was called Hanabatake (Field of flower), so the villa was named
Ohana or Flower.
Lunch at Yanagawa
Yanagawa is the birthplace of Steamed Eel that has more than 300 years history. There are many
restaurants which have their long history and each restaurants have been keeping the traditional
source and brand value.
Yanagawa is facing to Ariake Sea where many fresh and unique fishes are caught. Japanese
cuisines using local delicacies is also reccomended.
Dazaifu is a historical place, about 1300 years ago, in Dazaifu, there was a government office
to manage the entire Kyushu for a long period of 500 years at the present Dazaifu.

Kyushu National Museum
Kyushu National Museum was opened in 2005 in Dazaifu-city next to Dazaifu Tenmangu
Shrine, as Japan’s fourth national museum after Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara. Dazaifu is the place

Dazaifu travel guide
Dazaifu is the highly recommended tourist destination near Fukuoka-city. Must visit place
is Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine dedicated to the deity of lerning. Dazaifu is a historical place,
about 1300 years ago, in Dazaifu, there was a government office to manage the entire
Kyushu for a long period of 500 years at the present Dazaifu. There are numbers of
historical sites which reflect to the ancient history of Dazaifu, including ruins of the Dazaifu
itself.

Kumamoto-prefecture has about 40 golf courses that is 2nd largest number in Kyushu.
Golf courses are located in Aso Kuju National Park, there are many courses where you can
see beautiful scenery of Mount Aso while playing golf.

Miyazaki-prefecture has 30 golf courses and it is warm climate you can enjoy playing
golf throughout the year.
Most popular courses are Phoenix Country Club and Tom Watson Golf Course.

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
The Shrine dedicated to the deity of learning.Many Japanese visit the Shrine to pass the
examination successfully. Built on the site of grave of Sugawara Michizane, who is deified
as the Deity of scholarship. The shrine is the headquarter shrine of 12,000 Tenmangu
shrines in Japan.

The prescient contain two ponds, an arched bridge, treasure house, and the cypress-bark-roof
main hall which was rconstructed in 1591 and registered as important Cultural Property.

Standing to the right side of main hall in a sacred plum tree known as the “flying plum” , which
has been worshipped as the symbol of the shrine. Within the Shrine nature precinct are many
plum trees, camphor tree, and irises, which provide nature beauty in every season of year.

Tenmangu’s history is recalled by events such as the New Years Exorcism, Fire Festival
(Oni-sube), Kyokusui-no-en that means Spring Water Poetry Festival, and Jinko-shiki
(Annual God-Procession Festival) which takes place in the Autumn.

The Zen temple famous for its beautiful stone garden. It was built during the Kamakura
