Ohana and Shotoen Garden

Listed on National Scenic Landmark.  Built in 1697 as the villa of the Fourth Lord Tachibana

Akitora.  At that time the region was called Hanabatake (Field of flower), so the villa was 

named Ohana or Flower. The garden itself spread out over 3300 square meters and is laid

out in such a way as to evoke the image of Matsushima in Sendai. It was extensively

renovated in 1908 to 1910.


 

There are around 280 pines within the garden 1500 stones and 14 stone lanterns. From

October to March the pond is host to a flock of wild ducks.

Yanagawa Sagemon Festival

Yanagawa Sagemon Festival is one of the most beautiful and very unique Japanese

traditional Festival in KyushuThe festival is held from February 11 through April 3 in

Yanagawa.  Hina dolls are displayed by families with girls to pray for safe growth of 

their children, in Yanagawa, in addition to Hina dolls, colourful “Sagemon” are displayed.


 
Sagemon Meguri was started in order to showcase beautiful “Sagemon” to visitors. Each display
of “Sagemon” represents parents’ wishes for their girls to grow into beautiful, strong, and proud
women.

Ukiha

 

Ukiha Inari Shrine

Breath taking scenery harmonizes with the Shrine, Ukiha Inari Shrine, located at foot of Mino

mountain range, 130 m height from sea level. The 90 vermilion coloured Torii Gates stand on

the 300 steps stairs is introduced you from bottom area to the Shrine main building.

Shirakabe-dori Avenue

Time-honored scenery, back to 100 years ago, Located in Yoshii-machi, Shirakabe, literary meaning is

white wall. The avenue of houses with white wall were constructed about 100 years ago.  About 250

houses in the area has been designated as National important raditional buildings preservation district.

 


 

Featured Restaurant, Shirakabe

The restaurant Shirakabe is in the former merchant’s building constructed in 1928. Japanese

cuisines using best local ingredients that vary by season can be enjoyed. The chef who makes

that cuisines also experienced the imperial family’s cook.

 


 

Yanagawa

 

Canal boat cruise 

Yanagawa Canal boat cruise is to board a small boat called the Donkobune and slowly 

go down the river skillfully maneuvered by a boatman with bamboo pole.

Kawachi Wisteria Garden is a private garden at the Mountain foot of Sarakura in Kitakyushu-city

and famous for its spectacularly presented, large numbers of wisteria flowers.

Kokura Caltle

Kokura Castle is one of the most famous land marks in Kitakyushu. The construction was commenced

in 1602 and spent 7 years to completed it.  


 

Yanagawa  

Canal boat cruise can be enjoyed while experience the atmospheres of Japanese castle town and rural

Japanese  life style. The estuary town facing the Ariake Sea through the Chikugo River and Yabe River.  


 

Dazaifu

Historical place Dazaifu About 1300 years ago, in Dazaifu, there was a government office to manage the

entire Kyushu  for a long period of 500 years at the present  Dazaifu.  There are numbers of historical sites 

which reflect to the ancient history of Dazaifu.

 

Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine

Worship Deity of scholarship Shrine, Built on the site of grave of Sugawara Michizane, who is deified as

Tenjin-sama, or the Deity of scholarship. The shrine is the headquarter shrine of 12,000 Tenmangu shrines

in Japan. 

Kyushu National Museum

The Museum was opened in 2005 in Dazaifu-city next to Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, as Japan’s fourth national 

museum after Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara.


 

Fukuoka-city  

The gate way to Kyushu and is the biggest cosmopolitan city in Kyushu. Due to its location Fukuoka-city is 

the great starting point for exploring Kyushu. Fukuoka-city has a long history as commercial town and castle

town, and prospered as important district to Asian Continent for many years.   Now, Fukuoka-city is the

International bub of Kyushu, the nation’s fourth largest economic zone.

The Wholesale Market is open to the public on the second Saturday of every month as Citizens Appreciation day.

Time is from 9h to 12h. The Special event is the Tuna Cooking Show, don’t miss it.

Hakata Ramen

Food stalls “Yatai” is one thing to enjoy in Fukuoka. Despite a decline in recent year, there are said to be more than 160. The food stalls have all kind of food, but you have to try Hakata ramen, usually made

with white soup from pork bone and thin noodles.

Yoshii and Yanagawa Hina doll festival tour

 

The Hinadoll Festival is a traditional Japanese event that announces the arrival of spring.

The tour take you different type of unique Hinadoll festivals in  Yoshii and Yanagawa.

Those two Hina doll festivals are held

Ukiha

Ukiha blessed with nature where many orchards spread out at the foot of Mino mountain range.

Yoshii, in the center of Chikugo flourished as a post town during the Edo period, and there a lot

of Sake brewery which have established the Edo period. A fruits picking and Sake brewery

visit can be enjoyed here.

Hinadoll festival at Shirakabe Avenue

Main Hinadolls are displayed at Shirakabe Avenue district, where the river is lined by attractive former

warehouses, all with traditional wood and white plaster exteriors. The doll displays of Ukiha usually

feature two types of dolls: okiage (paper cut-outs covered in cotton and wrapped in fabric) and hakobina

(dolls in individual display cases).

Yanagawa

Yanagawa is the estuary town facing the Ariake Sea; Canal boat cruise can be enjoyed while

experience the atmospheres of castle town. Surprisingly, 60km lengh canal in total was

constructed in the town of Yanagawa and the Yanagawa prospered as a castle town because

the canals were used for the moats, which was the protection of enemy during Edo period.
