Takasaki mountain animal park

 

An altitude of 625m located in the boundary line of Oita-city and Beppu-city is known as

a habitat of the wild Japanese monkey.

 

 


 

The park was opened in 1953, in which about 1700 wild Japanese monkey are living. The monkeys

are fed regularly by park wardens in order to keep them on the mountain and prevent conflicts with 

farmers and residents in the neighborhood.

 


 

Foot bath

 
Have you tried Foot bath before? Foot bath is called Ashiyu in Japanese and is a public bath
in which people can bath their feet. Ashiyu in Beppu set up at Kannawa Onsen near the
Hell tour spots.
 

 
You can easily enjoy it without having to remove all your clothing, only the feet and leg up to the
knee are immersed. The Foot bath can still warm the entire body because of the large veins that
run through the leg.
 

 

Myoban Onsen

 

The Onsen resort town where the Yunohana or Alum have been collected since more than 200 years

ago.  Myoban means Alum in Japanese. Myoban is a geothermal area located at an altitude of 400

metre at the middle Garan mountain and a little away from the centre of BeppuThe beautiful scenery

of steam rising area where Beppu stone wall is built in the steeply sloping geothermal field chosen as

the important cultural landscape of the country as the Hot spring landscape. Yunohana koya or Alum

hut with the straw roof which is the Alum collecting facility can be visited.

 

     

 

Onsen Hoyo land

The Onsen is a public bath located in Myoban Onsen resort. This place is known by its mud

looks like a cream, and is rarely found in JapanThe mud has an excellent skin beautifying effect.

The outdoor mud is a mixed-gender bath.

 

 


 

Sanrio Harmoneyland

 

A theme park dedicated to the various Sanrio characters including Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll

and My Melody. Harmonyland is located in Hiji, Oita Prefecture, approximately a 30minutes

drive from JR Beppu Station.

 


 

There are live shows that take place daily, plenty of rides, and opportunities to have photos with

your favorite Sanrio characters. If you want a great view out over the surrounding landscape,

try the Ferris wheel – you may even be lucky enough to hop into a Hello Kitty carriage. Hours for

Harmonyland differ depending on the season, and closure days also change from month to month.

Umi-Jigoku is the most recommended site in the Hell tour.

Gazing out upon the mystically cool cobalt-blue of this pond stirs image of a crystal-clear sea,

but in fact the water temperature here is a scolding 98 degree Celsius.

 

 

This feature was created 1,200 years ago after the volcanic explosion of Mt. Tsurumi, and

corresponds to site labeled “ Kuberi-no-Yu” in the Bungo Topography.
