The most difficult and hard work was making Miyatayama tunnel with a total length of 1180 m due to suffering from floods. Futago-ji Temple

  The Central temple of Rokugo-Manzan in Kunisaki peninsula. The temple was established in 718 by Ninmon and located close to the peak of Mount Futago. Futagoji’s grounds cover a wide area on the forested slopes of the mountain, with stone and gravel paths and stairs connecting several halls housing various deities.     A pair of stone Nio Guardians stand at the start of the traditional temple approach below the parking lot, from where a ten minute ascent up a flight of steps takes you to the main temple buildings. Among them are the Gomado Hall which is dedicated to Fudomyo, a protector of Buddhism, and the Okunoin.

Nagasaki-bana Cape in Kunisaki peninsula

  Beautiful Resort Park facing to Suo Sea, located in the northern part of Bungo Takada-city, the tip of the Kunishin peninsula.  The cape that faces the Suo Sea, and protruding like a “nose” . Steamed Eel ( Unagi Seiro Mushi )

  Yanagawa is the birthplace of Steamed Eel (Eel Seiro Mushi).  The most recommended local cuisine is Steamed Eel that was born in Yanagawa more than 300 years ago. Rice seasoned with a special sauce  is topped by grilled eel and thin shredded omelet, all of which is steamed in a bamboo steamer.     There are many restaurants which have their long history and each restaurants have been keeping the traditional source and brand value.     Recommended Eel restaurant Wakamatsu-ya is one of the most recommended Eel restaurant in Yanagawa.

  Let’s sample Chochu at Beniotome Shuzo.  Shochu is a Japanese distilled beverage less than 45% alcohol by volume. Typically shochu contains 25% alcohol by volume, which is weaker than whisky or standard-strength vodka but stronger than wine and sake.     The shochu of Beniotome Shuzo is distilled from Sesame.  The brewery can be visited and there is a tasting corner,  Let’s sample Chochu.
