You can enjoy grilled curry that originated from Moji Port.   Mitsui Club was built by the Mitsui Co., Ltd in 1921 as a reception center  and to provide accommodation for VIP’s. It is now designated as an important cultural property. Dr. Albert Einstein who awarded Nobel Prize in Physics stayed here.

Catholic Unzen Church, built in 1982

  The Church is dedicated to Antonio Ishida and others who were martyred in the Unzen jigoku from 1627 to 1632 and was built in 1982 to commemorate Pope John Paul II’s visit to Nagasaki.   The number of believers in the church is small, but many pilgrims visit, since it is also a place of martyrdom.

St. Andrew’s Seminary at Dejima, in Nagasaki

  After the ban on Christianity lifted in 1873, Burnside who was the British Church Missionary  created a cram school at his home to teach the English Bible. In 1877, the school was moved to the Dejima English-Japanese School building at Dejima, and St. Andrew’s Seminary was opened. It was then used as the Seminary until 1886.

  Soaring 1375 metres into the sky, Mount Tsurumi is a breath taking mountain overlooking Beppu that offers some decent hiking, rare flora and outstanding vistas.  Visitors can take a ropeway 800 metres up and revel in being surrounded by acres of rolling greenery.   On clear days, you can see as far as the Kuju Mountains, a famous mountain range that runs between Oita and Kumamoto-prefectures.
