Nature in Kyushu

 

Hiraodai Karst Plateau, in Kitakyushu

One of the three largest karst plateau in Japan along with the Akiyoshi-dai Plateau and the 

Shikoku KarstIt is located in south-eastern part of Kitakyushu-city.  At altitudes between 

400 and 600 meters above sea level and stretching 6 km from north to south and 2 km from

east to west.  

   
  

 

Mount Sarakura, in Kitakyushu-city

Mount Sarakura is the best scenic spot in Kitakyushu-city.

The height of the mountain is 622 meters from sea level. At the top you are presented with a

magnificent and spectacular view of Kitakyushu. ​In 10 minutes, you can reach the summit 

from the Cable Car Station using the Cable car and the Slope car. 

The dynamic city where one million people are living and working, is creating the beautiful

Night view which you have never seen before. 


 

Nokonoshima island, in Fukuoka-city

Nokonoshima, in the middle of Hakata Bay Beautiful flowers can be enjoyable throughout

the year. Rapeseed blossom, Cherry blossom, Livingstone daisy Poppy, Rhododendro,

Marigold, Hydrengea, Plumed cockscomb, Dahlia, Sunflower, Cockspur coral tree 

Bougainvillea, Scarlet sage, Cosmos, Dahlia, Autumn leaves, Scarlet sage, Japanese

narcissus, Japanese camellia, Plum.


 

Unzen, in Nagasaki-prefecture

Located in the centre of Shimabara peninsula, at the southwest part of Mount Unzen with

an altitude of 700m. It is started receiving foreign tourists around the year 1900 when Kaempfer 

and Siebold introduced the city to Europe and China. The area was the first area to be designated 

as  a National Park in Japan in 1934. 

  
 

 

Sakura-jima island, Kagoshima-prefecture

Sakura-jima Island is the symbol of Kagoshima. The smoke and steam rises almost every

day from the active volcano Minamidake. Formerly an island, it became connected with

the Osumi Peninsula in 1914 when lava from its summit closed the channel between

 the two. Observation points on the island can be accessed by ferry.
