                      Spectacle art collection of exposed Rocks created by raging wave. Hyuga is a bay city, facing the Hyuga nada Sea.   Moji is the beautiful port town and facing to Kanmon Strait where one of the most beautiful Strait in the World. On the other side of the Kanmon Strait is Shimonoseki. Moji Port designated as a Japan’s special trading port in 1889. The area has contributed modernization of Japan as as a trading port. Hiraodai Karst Plateau & Caves

  One of the three largest karst plateau in Japan along with the Akiyoshi-dai Plateau and the  Shikoku Karst. It is located in south-eastern part of Kitakyushu-city.  At altitudes between  400 and 600 meters above sea level and stretching 6 km from north to south and 2 km from east to west.     Yougunbaru, which was so names because of the limestone which stands in row like a flock of sheep in a vast meadow, dolines (conical hollows) and limestone caves create distinctive scenery. The Plateau offers a different views in each of the four seasons, resembling a burnt  field in the spring, appearing fresh and green in the early summer, and similar to a dry plain in the fall.      Hiraodai Countryside Park There is 22ha of lawn square with observation platform, and a wild grass garden. There is also a plateau fruit tree garden. Moreover, the visitor can enjoy the experience of doing activities such as making buckwheat noodle (soba), ceramics, art flower, and woodwork.​     Limestone Caves   There are three limestone Caves in Hiraodai Karst and each cave has different unique features.    Senbutsu limestone Cave The largest limestone caves in Hiraodai Karst Plateau extending about 900 m while meandering toward the northeast. Harajo Castle ruins

  The Christian pilgrimage site, registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage Site as Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Region.  The site is located in Minami-arima in Minami-Shimabara-city and the Battle field of Shimabara Rebellion which was a peasant uprising against bakufu’s persecution of Christians under the leadership of Amakusa Shiro in 1637.     It was founded by Arima Takazumi in 1496 and was a flat castle with a fortress naturally created both by the cliff facing Ariake Sea and the tide coming in. This Castle was abandoned since Matsudaira.      Shigemasa, the load of Shimabara, built Shimabara Castle after the rupture of Arima family ties.  Christian farmers rose in a riot due to their grievance about the oppression by Matsukura  Shigemasa. The Shogunate regarded this riot as Christian rebellion and sent its punitive force, therefore locked themselves in the castle and with their leader Amakusa Shiro Tokisada fought against the Shogunate.   On February 27, 1638, he died in battle. The following day, the castle fell. 37,000 Christians including women and children died a violent death. It is registered on the UNESCO World Heritage as Hidden Christian Sites in the Nagasaki Regionin 2018.

Peace Statue

  World Peace from Nagasaki. The Peace Statue was completed in 1955, ten years after the atomic bombing. The 9.7 meter high statue sitting on a 4 meter tall pedestal, made by renown sculptor Kitamura Seibo who born in Minami-Shimabara-city, Nagasaki-prefecture in 1884.   The bronze Peace Statue has one left arm extending horizontally and other right arm pointing to the sky. The left arm stretching to the horizon symbolizes world peace, and the other right  pointing skyward indicates the threat of atomic destruction (the harm of nuclear power).  The closed eyes show the prayer for the peaceful repose of the victims of the Atomic Bomb.   Visiting from all over Japan and the World Wishing for eternal world peace from Nagasaki Kitamura Seibo, the Statue was completed at the age of 71   Peace Memorial Ceremony is held in front of the statue on August 9 every year and the Mayor of Nagasaki makes the “Nagasaki peace declaration” for the whole world.
