  Tamaseseri, a lively New Year’s Festival held on January,  at Hakozaki Shrine in Fukuoka-city, including a traditional form of fortune-telling.           Several hundred men wearing lion cloths compete on piggy-back in  two teams, the “sea” team and the “land” team team, for possession of  a wooden ball. Hojoya

Hojoya is the festival held Hakozaki Shrine to celebration of all living creatures.  It has a history of over 1000 years.        Hundred of doves and carp will be released on September 18 in reverence  of all living things, a solemn mikoshi (shrine) procession take place  on the 12th. Suizenji-koen Park

  Designed to replicate the beautiful scenery of Japan, this refined, Momoyama-style strolling garden represents the 53 stations of the Tokaido Road, including a miniature Mt. Fuji. The garden’s fresh springs release clean, cold water that flows from Mt. Aso via underground currents. In 1632,   Hosokawa Tadatoshi, the first Lord of the Kumamoto Domain, began its construction as a tea retreat and built a temple here called Suizenji. This beautiful garden evolved during the reigns of the fourth and fifth lords, taking about 80 years in total to complete.

Mitsui O.S.K Line Building

                                                                                                                                          HOME    Continental voyages waiting room This is a wooden 2-storey building consisting of an octagonal observatory andvivid  orange-colored walls. It was built in 1917 as the Osaka Shosen Moji Branch Office. Mojiko Station

  It is the only Station building that is designated as an Important National Cultural Property  together with Tokyo Station. Mojiko Station is a beautiful station built in the Renaissance  style and modeled on the Termini Station in Italy.      Kyushu Railway (nowadays JR Kyushu) began rail services between Mojiko Station  and Takase Station in 1891 and the Station building was built in 1914.     This was the first railway in Kyushu and subsequently Mojiko prospered greatly as a gateway  to the Kyushu region after that.     This was the first railway in Kyushu and subsequently Mojiko prospered greatly as a gateway to the Kyushu region after that.

Mojiko Retro Observatory

  Situated on the 31st floor of the high-rise apartment building “Retro Hi-Mart”. The 103m high observatory offers magnificent views of the Mojiko Retro district, the Kanmon-kyo Bridge over the  Kanmon Strait, as well as the Shimonoseki area.  It can be used until 10 pm and from around 8pm, Mojiko Retro district is lights up with beautiful illuminations, creating a very romantic ambience, making it a very popular dating spot.
