Nokonoshima Island, Fukuoka-city

 

Nokonoshima Island is located in the middle of Hakata Bay Beautiful flowers can be

enjoyable throughout the year. Rapeseed blossom, Cherry blossom, Livingstone daisy 

Poppy, Rhododendro, Marigold, Hydrengea, Plumed cockscomb, Dahlia, Sunflower,

Cockspur coral tree Bougainvillea, Scarlet sage, Cosmos, Dahlia, Autumn leaves, 

Scarlet sage, Japanese narcissus, Japanese camellia, Plum.

 


 

Uminonakamichi Seaside Park, in Fukuoka-city

 

The sprawling, family oriented public park located on a narrow peninsula across the bay from

central Fukuoka. The park is made up of several different areas including flower gardens,

playgrounds, an amusement park with ferris wheel, sports fields, a water park, a zoo and large

open spaces and lawns perfect for picnicking.

 

 


 

Yusentei Garden, Fukuoka-city

 

The time-honored Japanese garden. The Japanese traditional Garden; it was originally built

in the 1754 for Kuroda Tsugutaka who was the lord of Fukuoka clan. You can feel Japanese

traditional cultures and enjoy Tea Ceremony.

 


 

Kokura Castle Garden

 

Kokua Castle Garden made at the former site of Shitayashiki (lord’s guest house) located

next to Kokura Castle. This garden consists of a Japanese garden and a daimyo yashiki 

(a lord’s house), a building of the Shoin-zukuri type (a style of Japanese domestic architecture).

In this garden, not only can you see Japanese traditional architecture, but also enjoy the Tea

Ceremony at the Experience Zone.

 


 

Ohana and Shotoen Garden, in Yanagawa, Fukuoka-prefecture

 

Listed on National Scenic Landmark.  Built in 1697 as the villa of the Fourth Lord Tachibana

Akitora.  At that time the region was called Hanabatake (Field of flower), so the villa was 

named Ohana or Flower. The garden itself spread out over 3300 square meters and is laid

out in such a way as to evoke the image of Matsushima in Sendai. It was extensively

renovated in 1908 to 1910. There are around 280 pines within the garden 1500 stones and 

14 stone lanterns. From October to March the pond is host to a flock of wild ducks.

 


 

Suizenji-koen Park, in Kumamoto-city

 

Imitated the beautiful scenery of Japan. It is a refined circular garden of Momoyama period style

and represents the 53 Stations of the Tokaido Road including Mt. Fuji. The fresh springs in the

garden release clean, cold water, which flows there from Mt. Aso via underground currents.

In 1636, Tadatoshi, the third Lord of Hosokawa, began its construction as a tea retreat, and

he also built the temple here for Priest Gentaku called Suizenji.

This beautiful Momoyama style garden evolve during the reigns of the fourth and fifth Lords.

In all it took about 80 years to complete.

 


 

Sengan-en, Kagoshima-city

 

Sengan-en is the most famous garden in Kagoshima-ken, made by Shimazu lord in the 19th

century at the beautiful bay side Kinko bay. The garden contains many historic artifact that

Mount Tsurumi, in Beppu

 

Soaring 1375 metres into the sky, Mount Tsurumi is a breath taking mountain overlooking

Beppu that offers some decent hiking, rare flora and outstanding vistas. 

Visitors can take a ropeway 800 metres up and revel in being surrounded by acres of

rolling greenery. On clear days, you can see as far as the Kuju Mountains, a famous mountain

range that runs between Oita and Kumamoto-prefectures.

 


 

Mount Sarakura, in Kitakyushu

 

Mount Sarakura is the best scenic spot in Kitakyushu-city.

The height of the mountain is 622 meters from sea level. At the top you are presented with a

magnificent and spectacular view of Kitakyushu. ​In 10 minutes, you can reach the summit 

from the Cable Car Station using the Cable car and the Slope car.

Yanagawa Canal boat cruise

 

Yanagawa Canal boat cruise is to board a small boat called the Donkobune and slowly go

down the river skillfully maneuvered by a boatman with bamboo pole. 

You will enjoy a leisurely cruise along the streets and houses which still retain some remnants of

castle town, hearing the boatman’s explanation of the history and landscape of Yanagawa.  You

can also enjoy the specialty of Yanagawa eel steamed in basket called “Unagi-no-seiromushi” on

the boat.

 


 

Keya cave cruise

 

The most largest basalt cave in Japan.  The entrance of the cave is 64 metre high and 10

metre width and the depth is 90 metre. It is designated as one of three major Basalt caves

in Japan.

The 1st largest basalt cave in Japan consist of octagon and hexagon columnar joints.

 

 

 

Gunkan-jima island cruise  / Hashima Coal Mine

 

The cruise ship take you exploring Tachibana bay from Nagasaki port and landing on Hashima

island. The site has been registered on UNESCO World Heritages as Sites of Japan’s Meiji

Industrial Revolution. Now Hashima is a ruins called “Gunkanjima”, so called after its resemblance

to the silhouette.  Hashima Island is located 3 km southwest of Takashima, and it was the success of

Takashima that led Mitsubishi to purchase this island, both islands giving access to the same

Kujukushima Islands, located at the westernmost tip of the Japanese mainland in Kyushu, Sasebo,

and 208 large and small islands.

There are only four inhabited islands: Kuroshima, Takashima, Maejima, and Todomari Island,

and almost the entire area was designated as the Saikai National Park in 1955.

Yufuin-no-mori

 

Yufuin-no-mori is the tourist express train operated between Yufuin and Hakata.

Beautiful scenery can be seen with comfortable 2 hours and 20 minutes ride.

 

 

Aso Tourist tram

 

Enjoy the magnificent scenery of Aso. The Minami Aso railway is a private railroad offering

a very scenic ride from Takamori to Nakamatsu in the south east of the caldera.

Lovely and magnificent scenery can be enjoyed on a pleasant 30 minute train ride

 


 

Amaterasu Railway

 

The attraction uses the facilities of the discontinued Takachiho Railway.

It takes 30 minutes to run the 5.1km course from Takachiho Station to Takachiho

Railway Bridge. It seats 30 people and is pulled by two power vehicles, front and

rear, each equipped with a 2500cc diesel engine.

Tempered glass has been installed in the center of the floor of the passenger car,

allowing you to enjoy the view of the railroad tracks passing by and the view directly

below from the highest point (105m) of the Takachiho Railway Bridge.

Harazuru, in Fukuoka-prefecture

A tranquil Onsen Resort near Fukuoka-city, located in Asakura-city on the banks of

Chikugo River.  The quality hot spring is weakly alkaline and sulfur is mixed and has

the effect of dropping old horn and creating beautiful skin.


 

Beppu, in Oita-prefecture

Beppu is one of the most famous Onsen resort in Japan. Beppu Onsen resort is located on

a slope from mount Tsurumi to facing Beppu Bay where onsen steam rising from any places.

Boasting more than 2,800 hot spring sources and flowing rate of nearly 137,000 kiloliters per

Unzen, in Nagasaki-prefecture

Beautiful highland Onsen Resort situated Unzen National Park. The area was the first area to

be designated as a National Park in Japan.  Whether you are taking in the stunning panoramic

views from top one of the many peaks including Nita-toge Pass or looking up these volcanic

Aso, Kumamoto-prefecture

Aso is located almost in the center of Kyushu and possesses the world’s largest Caldera with

18km west-east and 24km north-south, created by 4 periods of explosive volcanic activity in

the ancient times.

The many Onsen resorts were created due to volcanic activity during ancient times,

such as Southern part of Aso, Northern part of Aso, Uchinomaki, Kurokawa, Kikuchi.

   

 

Ibusuki, Kagoshima-prefecture

it is best known for its steaming sand baths along the beach, where bathers in a yukata, or 

Japanese bathrobe get buried in the sand up to their neck.  The sand heated by steam 

containing marine minerals is scientifically proven to have therapeutic effects on neuralgia,

rheumatism, back pain and other ailments.

Kusasenri-ga-hama, in Aso

The beautiful prairie of 785,000 square meter in the crater. Spreads in northern part of

Mt. Eboshi that is one of the Aso five Mountains.

A big pond at its center and grazing horses round about make an idyllic scene.

Visitors can enjoy the various seasons from its vivid green summer to the fantastic silvery

winter, as well as riding horses and strolling around throughout the year.

  

 

Mount Naka, in Aso

Mount Naka is a part of Mount Aso. 

Mount Aso is consist of five consecutive mountain located in the Caldera where is

25 km across north to south and 18 km across east to west.

The most exciting mountain is Mount Naka with an altitude os 1506m which is the

largest active volcano in Japan.

You can see the Crater from the top, depending on the weather condition.

 
    

 

Daikanbo, in Aso

Daikanbo is located on the northern part of outer edge of the Aso Caldera. The perfect spot view

 The circumference of the Aso caldera is about 130 kilometers. From the observation site, you

can clearly see its conical shape. Early in the morning, the clouds had spread out below us, and 

hung over the caldera as if they were a large sea.

The Aso Panorama line is the Aso mountain roads that leads to the summit of Mount Five mountains.

There are three routes, and the most recommended are South and North Panorama

lines. Aso South Panorama line is connected from Minami-Aso to Aso Five mountains area.

Major cities in Kyushu

 

Fukuoka-city

The biggest city in Kyushu and is considered the gateway to the country due to it’s close proximity

to the Asian mainland. This energetic and bustling city is the center of Kyushu’s politics, economy,

culture, fashion and tourism. Fukuoka International Airport with direct flights from from Asia, Guam

and Honolulu. So when visiting Kyushu, the city is a great starting point for exploring Kyushu.

 

 

 

Kitakyushu-city

Kitakyushu is 2nd largest city in Kyushu with 920,000 population. Kitakyushu possesses

numerous tourist attractionsNature areas including Mt. Sarakura where the most dynamic

night view in the World, Castle town area Kokura where Japanese traditional culture can be

experienced, Mojiko Retro facing Kanmon Strait where beautiful Strait and also Industrial

area Yahata where is industrial area has many Industrial Heritages.

 

  

 

Nagasaki-city

Nagasaki is a International city in Japan with a history of trading with many countries since

Nagasaki port opened in 1571. The city has many tourist places with hidden Japanese historical

significance. It was the Gateway to foreign countries and the first area where Christianity spread.

It played a major part in Japan’s industrial modernization and was the site of the Atomic bomb

used in WW2.

 

        

 

Kumamoto-city

Kumamoto is the 3rd largest city in Kyushu located almost in the center of Kyushu, with Aso

region on the east side and the Ariake Sea on the west side. There is one of the Japan’s

three great castles, Kumamoto Castle. Shimotori shopping street is one of the largest shopping

arcades in Japan where you can enjoy shopping and local cuisines.

 

 

 

Kagoshima-city

The southern most major city in Kyushu and from here you can see Sakura-jima Island and

it’s active volcano from which smoke and steam rise across Kagoshima Bay. Kagoshima

prospered in the Edo period as a castle town. Tenmonkan is the biggest shopping arcade

and here you can dine on local cuisines, especially succulent meats and also enjoy the

vibrant night life, bars and restaurants.

Nanzoin temple, Reclining Buddha statue, in Fukuoka-prefecture

 

Nanzoin is a Shingon Buddhist Temple in Sasaguri, Fukuoka-prefecture.

It is notable for its bronze statue of a reclining Buddha, said to be the largest

bronze statue in the world.

Completed in 1995, the giant bronze Reclining Buddha statue, known as Nehanzo,

depicts the historical Buddha at the moment of his death and entry into nirvana.

The statue’s impressive dimensions and intricate details make it a sight to behold,

attracting visitors from all over the world.

Munakata and Fukutsu, in Fukuoka-prefecture

Munakata Region is located in the west part of  Fukuoka-prefecture facing the Genkai Sea.

There are many beautiful seas and religious sites that have UNESCO World Heritage status

including the Sacred Island of Okinoshima and other Associated Sites.

 


 

Ukiha Inari shrine, in Fukuoka-prefectuere

 

Breath taking scenery in harmony with the Shrine.  Ukiha Inari Shrine, located at foot of Mino

mountain range, 130 m height from sea level. The 90 vermilion coloured Torii Gates stand on

the 300 steps stairs is introduced you from bottom area to the Shrine main building.

From the Shrine compound, a breath taking panoramic view of Chikugo plain in harmony with

Torii Gate can be enjoyed.


 

Yame Central Tea Plantation, in Fukuoka-prefecture

 

The country of Green Tea, Yame.  The Green Tea grown in Yame is one of the

highest grade of tea throughout Japan.  This is the large Tea plantation spreading

on a gently sloping hilly area, about 70 ha.

There is an observatory at the top of hill,  Ariake bay as well as Shimabara

Peninsula in Nagasaki-prefecture can be seen on sunny days.
